This is the reality of modern college basketball.
It was already wounded by the "one-and-done" era. Now, the transfer portal, one-time transfer rule, and NIL all figure into players looking to move out and up whenever possible.

This doesn't mean your team won't have older, legacy style player. But you should expect to see a roster with one or two transfers on it every year with some of those getting starting time. This doesn't have to be bad, Baylor has made great use of the transfer portal to create a constant developed depth.

The risk is that any individual team that fails to gel will simply underperform expectations.

A positive for BYU, you are entering the toughest basketball conference in the country. If a kid wants to play college basketball, there are few places that do it better than the Big 12.
