This is about money and that means media. If B12 can get Stanford & ASU they
will have 7 of the top 36 media markets...and several of the fastest growing (e.g. Utah #30 & Tampa #13). Add Ore. & Stanford and you're into 9 of the the 36. A merger with those four teams would give them the mantle of the Big West conference. That would certainly be a P3 conference.
There's no way that BYU is out of anything. Utah is a large and growing market, BYU is competitive in FB and a major in total athletic programs. The B12 dominance in BB puts it in the clear number 3 lane. Utah may be the odd team out.
USC and UCLA are going to be challenged in their Olympic sports programs when you consider that Nebraska will be their closet league school. Competing in those sports will be a travel nightmare.
