They've already authorized an exploration of expansion.
But, hard to get a media deal in place when partners don't know who will be in that conference. This is partially why the PAC is at such a disadvantage, the Big 12 schools can't move and have a locked in deal through 2025. They are next up on the negotiation table and have more time to consider additions and get different looks in place. The PAC has urgency because they have to have to a media contract, which can't be granted until we know who is in it, which can be determined without a GOR or a tipping of the hand on who is leaving. This is an extremely crucial time for the conference, and a rush job won't do.

I think you will see attempts to grab Big 12 pieces, I doubt anyone jumps. I think you see something like SDSU as the first add, and then some combination of Fresno/UNLV/SMU.
