This actually went through my mind
It doesn’t have to be a check. It could be the Big 12 going to a 8 conference game schedule and entering a scheduling deal with the SEC to provide one home game and one road game against an SEC opponent each year. ESPN already owns 1 SEC non conference game, why not grab a second? It renews old Big 12 SEC rivalries and it increases the value of the Big 12s TV contract. Just take UW, UO, ASU, and CU to go to 16. Those would be some exciting matchups and would kill any alliance the ACC could offer to the PAC.
