ASU followed closely by Colorado (yes, I know that they are weaker athletically than others). This would cause UW to think about the future of the conference.... leading them to join. Oregon would then realize that they are on the sinking ship and follow suit. B12 decides to hold off and expanding further.
That gives the B12 16 solid teams to build a media plan on. And let's one particular fanbase to ponder what the future of their athletic programs.
Note: I like Washington State, but I think that WSU, OSU and even AZ are much better fits for the MWC. That would be an awesome conference. Toss in a uu and Cal and life is good for everyone (that is a BYU fan).

B12 doesn't even really need to convince anyone. The decision the B12 needs to make is how many teams do they want
