1996 is an example of preseason polls not helping an awesome team. BYU was NR
but was able to move up. The W got them to #19. The UW loss dropped them grin 14 to OUT. It took two losses for A&M to drop out (their second loss was to a bad team). Does BYU go even higher than 5 if they start in the preseason polls?
Week 5 BYU was 3-1 and slipped back in at 24.
The NC Florida actually lost in week 15 (FSU) and moved up from 4 to 3.

The first BYU game that I attended live. Probably the first BYU game that I ever watched on purpose.
