Actually it's the American Cancer society that recommends it every few years
Aren't you supposed to be a doctor? It's one of the few malignancies where early detection and screening actually matter

Um, colonoscopy doesn't prevent cancer. The bowel prep and camera doesn't alter the genetics. An argument can be made
