Washington beat Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. Washington had been #1 until losing to USC in Nov.

Knocking off an obnoxious Oklahoma team and losing earlier in the season, Washington really did play a big part in BYU winning the NC.

No, but Oklahoma did turn down the Holiday Bowl to play Washington in the Orange Bowl.

I thought it was Washington that turned it down. Oklahoma was contractually obligated to play in the Orange.
