First, I would most definitely mock and possibly disown anyone that would do something as dramatic as renewing marriage vows. Were they too cheap to get the lifetime marriage package? Their ten-year expiration date is coming up so they have to renew?

Most importantly, they're too rude to be considered friends, which means you shouldn't go. My best friend's reception was during a BYU Colorado State game, and he had the decency/respect to have the game playing in one of the side rooms. If they don't respect you enough to have the game playing, you sure as &#$+ shouldn't be celebrating a marriage in need of a renewal. You have chosen your friends poorly, but it is never too late to repent.
