Futenma Building
Yes, that was where the district presidency had offices. A very narrow strip of land on an embankment where parking was always a challenge. It was close to Futenma's back gate, and had a musty odor issue all of the time.

I knew your sister as Snot's wife in Maryland and heard from the "other" Mac brother (?) when I saw notice of his passing while lurking, which prompted my creating an account and making my first post. Our association with them was prior to our posting to Okinawa in late 90s, so we hadn't yet realized the common ground that would have been for us.

My kids have some pretty good memories of Okinawa, Toguchi, Okuma, Kinser, and fun Japanese dining experiences. I was disappointed that the Japanese had become so jaded to the comings-and-goings of disinterested Americans that we were unable to make friends and share more cultural interaction. The one exception was that of a woman who worked as a house-maid whose stories of walking thru the front lines in 1945 from Naha to Nago as orphans trying to make their way and beg food was a most eye-opening experience for my wife and kids.
