criticism of Kalani for the performance of the defense this year or any of the previous years. I get that Tuiaki is the D Coordinator, but Kalani is the head coach who seems to tacitly, if not outrightly, approve of the defense.

Wasn’t Kalani known as a great defensive coach coming in? Wasn’t Kalani going to recruit all of the big poly D linemen so we would be stout up front and have that defensive depth we have not had in so long? Seems to me we have pretty good linebackers, better DBs than most of us thought we would ever have. We seem to really lack the powerful and explosive big D-linemen.

I do believe that Tuiaki is stuck running a defense that he does not have the horses to run against good teams. He hasn’t been able to recruit well for this defense, but Kalani deserves as much criticism in my mind as Tuiaki, maybe more. Yet all we hear is fire Tuiaki, fire Lamb, etc. Which defensive coach could we hire that is going to come in and run a great defense with the D-line we have?
