BYU has its sites on some elite in-state players. Cooper Jones just shot a 61 at the National High School
Invitational. A 61 is crazy......
Kihei Akina might even be better than Cooper (note that Cooper's brother is on BYU's team).
Tyson Shelley on BYU's team has two brothers who go low too.
My high school aged son has a freshman on his team who shot a 63 in their last match.
Utah has some really good high school golf talent right now. You need to shoot mid 70s or lower to make the team at my son's high school. (other schools in Utah that number is much higher... but the point is there are lots of Utah high school kids playing in the 60s).
Congrats to your friend's son. USC is a great school with much better golf weather than Provo can offer. I would love it if my son got an offer from USC.
