I don’t wish him ill (except when playing BYU, may he have 0 catches and 3 fumbles, and miss every block he’s assigned). But if a key employee quit in the middle of a critical project to take a job at a rival, I wouldn’t necessarily wish them well. I wouldn’t necessarily wish them misfortune either but their success in their future role will directly hurt my company so I don’t have to show any pretended magnanimity.
(And if you disagree, ask yourself this: do you imagine for a moment that if he succeeds there Ute coaches wouldn’t use his success against us in future recruiting battles?)
