The exponent of 3 is a giveaway that the solution will have to devolve to 2^3 at
some point. So the assumption would be that the expression that results in the "2" would be in parentheses: (2)^3. Then it's as simple as trying to figure out how to use 1, 2, 3, + and - to come up with a result of "2". The answer to that is 3-2+1. Thus, (3-2+1)^3=8.
