definitely report it. I once called the police after my son's bike was stolen.
the cop drove directly to the neighborhood where he had seen a lot of stolen bikes and immediately saw a kid riding it. Got the bike back about 30 minutes after making my police report.
we moved shortly afterward, and a couple months after it was stolen again from my son's elementary school.
