I'm coaching my kids' cross country team right now. I enjoy it, and at the elementary level it's one of, if not the most basic sports out there. But rather than just show up for an hour or so a few times to watch them race I show up for 2 hours twice a week to run practice for the two dozen other kids in addition to my own kids. I've adjusted my work schedule to leave early a couple days per week, but that usually means getting back on the computer in the evening to get everything done that I need to. It is a small sacrifice but one I'm happy to make to do this for my kids and others.
