Yes, we were getting gashed in the first half. Yes, it took way too long to make the adjustments to rein it in. All that is fair criticism.

But the adjustments made to stop the run, however late they were in coming, is exactly the opposite of what CBers are screaming for. We had FEWER linemen. We put LESS people in the box. And we rushed LESS. And it WORKED.

Similarly, we've heard lots of whining about rushing three and dropping eight. The three-man rush gave USU absolute fits. They didn't know what to do with it. In fact, the best plays for USU in the second half were when we got impatient and went away from the three-man rush.

So you see these complaints about why we aren't stacking the box, and you just have to wonder what it is they think they are seeing that they aren't seeing.
