MarylandFan Intervention Needed
I can't make sense of that. Where does money come from at losing programs?
Saban is a CEO, an employee of an entity. (Fun fact, his salary alone could fund a college department of 75 professors making $150K each.)

When questioned by "shareholders" about performance of company (stock, earnings, etc), he insists that it's going up! Just not as fast as they would like, and that his company employees are committed to the growth of the company more than anyone on the shareholder call. That shareholders are acting entitled when they criticize results that are his direct responsibility.

To not understand that dynamic is to not understand what NCAA football actually is and has been for years, where the post season is a zero sum game of "king of the mountain."

I get what he is trying to say, but there is a bit of a blind spot in recognizing that coaches and staffs are not volunteers, or even regular employees. They are extremely well compensated to do one thing, and if they do not meet "earnings expectations" or "quarterly targets" they are going to be criticized...and the "fans" are not acting entitled, they literally are entitled to something in return for their investment.
