You should definitely lock asap. There’s no upfront cost to locking and you can
cancel the lock/loan and switch lenders with no penalty if rates were to decrease.

I’m assuming you didn’t lock before because you didn’t know when the house would finish. Many lenders allow you to lock up to 6 months in advance. Some lenders have stopped offering the 6 month lock or started charging a fee upfront now with how crazy the market has been but you can lock for at least 90 days for sure with no upfront fee.
