How many other 4-1 or better teams are not ranked, see the list?
There are a number of P5 4-1 teams that aren't ranked (see list below; also includes non P5 teams). Maybe the voters generally believe that they haven't hit the tough part of their schedules... they will lose eventually to Ohio State or Michigan or Clemson. "I'm not going to bother ranking them just to have them fall out once the eventually lose."

To me it was crazy that TCU and Kansas and UCLA were unranked the previous week with 3-0 or 4-0 records. I guess their early schedules were perceived as soft. Then all 3 won last week to remain undefeated, and pollsters had to give them credit... and yet BYU is still ranked ahead of them.

We haven't played enough games yet to differentiate. There isn't enough room in the Top 25 for all the 4-1 or better teams, not even al the P5 4-1 teams. Someone has to be left out. With that said... this Mike Vorel guy clearly has us too low relative to his peer reporters. He's put us in the same class as Illinois or Maryland... projecting that we will lose to Notre Dame and Arkansas... will be 4-3 at that point and unranked anyway... so why include us now?

Here's the list of 4-1 or better teams that aren't ranked:
- Florida State
- Memphis
- Tulane
- Duke
- North Carolina
- Maryland
- Illinois
- Minnesota
- Liberty
- Air Force
- UNLV
- Washington State
- Coastal Carolina (actually 5-0 right now)
- James Madison (4-0 right now)
- South Alabama
