Reality is that we're not going to poach away a DC by giving them substantially more money - especially not before the Big 12 money has even started flowing.

And BYU is a fine destination but it's not marquee enough that coaches will want to come here for similar $ (maybe 20 are). Especially if the coach is already in a better conference such as the B1G or SEC

There's inherent risk in going to a new situation with a new staff and players. So unless there's some upside it doesn't happen.

So the options for DC require that we do at least one (and probably two) of the following
Pay more $
Give a bigger stage (this pulls G5, but not P5 types)
Give a better title (this pulls position coaches, but not DCs)
