No it wasn’t. The chance for being voted national champions was on the line
And it worked out. Look I’m not discrediting a NC, college football was different then. It’s not a knock on BYU’s NC, but had they played Washington for a national championship that year then it would have. It’s a shame that game was never played that season like it would be now.
