Perhaps. I assume it’s been properly oiled? How old is the gas?

Carburetor, probably. Those things are notorious

If you don't use some type of gas additive... the Ethanol will gunk up your carburetor.

Yep, if wasn't winterized last spring then probably needs new gas + carb clean

Is there gas from last year? If so empty it out and get new gas.

If you're smelling gas, you might have primed it a bit too much. Let it sit for 10 min and try again without
