Her two kids were probably 10 and 14 at the time. Dad has a side hustle as a handyman and he does most of that work on the evenings a weekends. (We suspect he does that to avoid spending time with his wife, which is another story). So the ward brought them dinner for about a week.

At first I was bugged that they would ask for that, but those kids probably weren't going to get much help while their mom was away. So I thought of it more as helping the kids, which made me less bugged.
