BYU is now in the big boy club and should start acting like it. Go get an up and coming proven DC who wants to progress their career on a bigger stage. Let him succeed for a few years and move on to a head coaching job. That’s what all the big programs do.

I have nothing against Nua or Poppinga - in fact their track records are very impressive and believe they are good coaches. Certainly they would both be major improvements from the current position coaches we have now. And they could be great as DCs.

But Kalani, at this point, shouldn’t be taking that sort of chance. He did that already with tuiaki and it’s been a disaster. He needs to have someone who doesn’t need to learn on the job or have their hand held. He needs someone who can come in, take over and run with it.

I, personally, would want someone who has had some experience with that.

I could be wrong, look at the dolphins head coach. He’s been pretty good.
