Exactly, why pay anything for a kid to promote you that's not even really part
of the team? In fact, that's likely to actually damage your brand if they piss off the fans by bailing on everyone when they are most needed.
The whole idea of a player saying "nah, I'm just going to sit this one out" is insane to me. Either you are part of the team, or you aren't, it's not a bloody buffet.
