I agree. It was missing the more suspenseful espionage side of MI.
Not a bad movie by any means, but I just wanted more scenes like the ones you mentioned, or the Vatican sequence in MI3, the CIA infiltration scene in the first one, or the underwater sequence in MI5.
I think the MI movies are best when they balance the action with all the espionage stuff (disguises, gadgets, suspense, etc.).
