My company rolled out a points rewards and redemption store a few years back.
When first rolled out, each level was given an allotted pool of points they could give out. Partner's had like 15,000 (equal to $1,500 of redemption value); Managing Directors something like 10,000; Senior Managers and Directors 7,500; and Managers 5,000. Senior Associates and Associates could send appreciation cards but didn't have points to send. Can use points to buy all sorts of stuff. I got a Nintendo Switch and controllers and a bunch of games, Crutchfield gift cards to buy a new home theater receiver, Lowe's gift cards to buy a smoker and more to buy a new fridge, various restaurant gift cards, etc., so a decent perk.

Anyway, it rolled out maybe 2019. During COVID shutdowns they removed the pools and the same levels were able to send without their annual caps.

Worked fine until suddenly one day it was shut down. No sending points. No redeeming points. Was like that for a couple months this past October-November.

Came back online finally in December and an email was sent to all employees that a certain group of employees abused the system and it needed to be shut down temporarily. Wasn't stated, but it was shut down while they were all being fired and cleared out. They had been giving each other limitless points, redeemed a ton, and built up huge pools for additional redemption. Had to shut it off while they were terminated and getting cleared out to keep them all from redeeming their massive collections.

Morons. It's back online now, but with the caps again.
