When you are in a caloric surplus and eating carbs,you store glycogen in your
Muscles and liver. This is essentially water and glucose ready to be used as quick energy. I looked it up and if remember correctly it’s like 3-5 lbs for an adult male.

So if you’re not in a deficit a percentage of your initial weight loss will come from this.

This is why people gain a few lbs seemingly from one cheat day or meal. Then they freak out thinking it’s fat.
