his right the last step and missed Mahomes. Or dove or slid to his right. He kinda dove as it was to make the contact.

Just a mistake of making his mind up first to make contact and not adjusting in the heat of the moment. I admit, thats a hard thing to do and I really do feel bad for Ossai.
