You didn't answer my "why?", but your "why?" is answered in this thread.
No one is saying the same 3 games for OOC every year (verbatim: "why do we need to play the SAME non-conference games?"...emphasis added). But the rivalry game is the topic, which answers your "why?" (at least for one OOC game)...because it's a GREAT GAME!!

You take away BYU hate and Utah loses half their fan base. Never play them again and they die a slow death.
