I remember when we were entering the WCC feeling like the expectation was to compete equally with Gonzaga year after year for the conference championship. As it turns out we've never really been very close. I can easily stomach being an inferior basketball program to Gonzaga but being an inferior program to St. Mary's after 12 years isn't acceptable to me. And not advancing beyond the round of 64 in 12 years is completely unacceptable regardless of what conference we're in. It's pretty crazy that we never won a conference tournament in either the MWC or WCC (24 years!).
