The stuff he struggled with this year is not stuff that he was expected to not
be able to do. He played skittish - very against character. His accuracy was horrible - his 2020 completion % is the second highest in BYU history, fractions of a percentage behind Steve Young. His decision-making was poor - not a huge issue at BYU. He still demonstrated elite arm skills and escapeability.

Further, stuff I've heard about his OC afterward suggests a disconnect with him. The fact he was telling people around the team that White and Flacco moved the ball in the preseason better than Zach suggests either an inability or lack of desire to develop Zach -You have a kid you're charged with developing as a QB who has elite skills - you don't go around telling people the old backup and journeyman are moving the ball better - you find what you're doing wrong. The stuff Zach was having difficulty with is consistent with a lack of instruction or perhaps poor play design.

Best case for Zach, I think, is Rodgers coming in for a couple years, with Hackett having the chance to restore Zach's confidence and give him a system he can run.

If Zach isn't successful with Rodgers/Hackett for 2 years, then he's not for the NFL.
