It only makes sense if they are doing it because either they literally can’t get
a media rights deal done without them, and/or because they are worried about the conference collapsing and they want to stay above 8 or whatever teams so that those who aren’t about to bounce can remain a going concern.
It is almost positively not going to increase the per school payout. Unless someone is willing to say that SMU and SDSU are worth a combined $60M per year or whatever in TV revenue.
