The sad part is, it's not that they are out of ideas. It's that there's no risk,
specifically to shareholders. They'd rather produce unoriginal crap that they can guarantee them a ROI, than take a chance on a new story or idea that they can't plan on being big.
(Though, after crap like Home On the Range, before Pixar saved their yewt, I almost can't blame them.)
