Not too big to allow everyone to eventually play everyone. 18 is basically 2
conferences playing an 8 game conference schedule. Anything above that seems dilutive.
Even now, the B10 feels like 5 teams and a bunch of scrubs. Do you ever think of Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana or Northwestern? When people think of the B10 it is MI, tOSU, Penn State and maybe Wisconsin, MSU or Iowa (if one is having a good year). Even big name Nebraska is forgettable in the B10.
