You're right. Nani is better off the ball. Re the pg,
I don't have a clue. We have 6 coming in. Besides, not everyone who is great in high school can do the same in college. Also, some blossom late. Don't forget we have Wooston coming in. We have Lee and Johnson who were redshirted. I don't remember if they're point guards or not. If Amari and Kailey are really that good, someone is going to get red-shirted this fall. Coach has played Mackey-Williams at point, but she is a better sub than a starter. Smiler has two years to play I think and she is already in a grad program. Again, not a true point. Amari will have been a year without playing because of her knee.
The nice thing is Coach Whiting has upgraded her talent pool big time. As for the playing, we have to become more aggressive. Our defense really improved under Whiting but it will have to be much better in order to compete in the B-12. I watched the B-12 all year and they are taller and faster. We won't finish in the top 6, maybe not even the top nine. It will be a learning curve for sure.
The bigs will have to learn to jump. Lauren will be able to handle her own rebounding but I hope she learns to shoot w/o dribbling or she'll turn the ball over big-time. Rose has to become more aggressive. She's still too passive.
There are four teams that play pressure defense and we will suck if we don't learn to overcome it. I can't wait. Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Iowa State were the top five teams and there were seven in the tournament. There are three more schools coming in besides us. Cincinnati, Houston and UCF are all ranked well below BYU. I can't wait to watch them all play.
