FYI - transport was somewhat limited on protest days. (police in riot gear congregated right where we were staying which was interesting to see)
Louvre - expect big crowds. You can download the Rick Steves audio tour of the Louvre which helps you see highlights and gives some insights. Mona Lisa is always packed but some of the other classics I liked where Raft of the Medusa and The Coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte which portrays him taking the crown from the Pope and crowning himself since he didnt deem the Pope worthy, how the Pope is looking upset, how Napolean had his mom painted into the picture even though she wasnt there, etc. The fountains are being remodeled outside so they are dry so dont expect the classic louve and fountain picture.....
Skip the Louis Vuitton Foundation museum unless they have a new exhibit - last week they were between exhibits and there wasnt much to see
Musee D'Orsay - really enjoyed this, honestly more so than Louvre
Palace of Versailles visit - we did late in the day and it was not nearly as crowded as AM
Catacombs - really enjoyed the catacombs at night - self guided tour
Paris Disney - skip it unless yoiu're a big Disney fan. Its not nearly as good as Disney in the US and the food was bad. (we'd been there a few years ago and thought it wasn't too great, tried again and it was no better. By 3 PM our kids wanted to leave)
Hiked around Sacre Coeur and the nerighborhood below. Watch for pickpockets. Beautiful but not worth a ton of time
Walk along the Siene of course in early AM or after dark
Go to the top of the Arc de triomphe
Paris Opera house - beautiful inside, tickets are good for all day so skip the early morning rush
To eat — so many good places, no particular recommendations, its such a great food city
Obviously Eiffel tour and go over on the Siene side so you can take pictures with the water in the foreground - at night they flash the lights I believe on the hour, every hour.
We went over to Bruges and Ghent Belgium which is an easy drive (if renting car from the airport at least cause driving in Paris is chaos) and we loved that. (seeing the Ghent altarpiece that was portrayed in the Monuments Men movie, which was just a wow for us)
