Yes, he could hire people to do the work and take vacation to do what he needs to do that he doesn't hire out, but it's more about him putting in the sacrifice himself as payback to all that they gave up for him.

Again, he didn't go into detail about how they immigrated to the US, but what he did say it became very apparent that it wasn't easy and the sacrifices were great to get him and his other family members here, and then to give them the opportunities that they had. He did state that all that he, his siblings, and his cousins have they owe to living in the US and all that comes from what his parents and his aunts and uncles sacrificed to get them here.
