If your family paid anything out of pocket related to the misdiagnosis, that you report it to the insurance company and make sure that all costs are recovered for it. Yes there was time expended and potential physical loss but they should be made right with an external costs that was born with the misdiagnosis. That’s just the right thing. The punitive thing is a lawsuit.
