Your logic is very flawed (which I really wouldn't expect otherwise anyway).
First, you came up with 3 scenarios and wrote "it means one of the following" which is not true as it most likely is a combination of all three.
Second, regarding your second scenario, are those sporting ute gear/plates really ute "fans" if they don't watch their games or even know who is on or coaches their "team"?
