clear to them now….there is no deal. Nothing even close. It may be in Kliavkoff’s best interest to continue to say nothing publicly—let the clock run—until schools begin to leave.
That way, the conference fell apart, not because of an inability to secure a deal, but because schools impatiently left.
If they were close to a satisfactory deal….it most assuredly would have been leaked. The league is starving for a tiny morsel of any good news. For at least one positive note to counter all the lawsuits, the rumors of defection, etc. Even Wilner & Canzano are holed up in their basements, watching Gilligan’s Island episodes.
