I didn't feel that way, and I think they did develop her character. Compare Keely from season 1 to season 3.
She went from being a model who always dated footballers who treated her badly to someone who didn't need to be in a relationship to be happy with herself and learning to become a business savvy person. You might say that she was outside of the circle of Ted's influence, but I disagree. Ted's relationship with Rebecca changed Rebecca, who in turn changed Keely.

I have watched the show, and maybe saying "glorifying darkness" is too strong. However, I think there's a line somewhere
