Not all "offers" are the same. I think BYU doesn't extend one
until they are absolutely committed to signing the kid — & sticking unreservedly to the kid.
I think many of these kids understand the distinction & respect BYU's practice.
This seems to apply to bball as well.
Schools very often back off early commitments when the bigger fish holdouts start making their decisions late in the recruiting season — & early-signees have to be wise to this.
