It’s good to have guys with top shelf top-end straight-line speed, but it’s mostly a meaningless attribute, as players rarely have an opportunity to get top top speed in a game situation. Burst is the attribute that matters. Being able to find a seam, put your foot in the ground, change directions, and explode - going from zero to near full speed as quickly as possible. Barry Sanders would have come in last in any 100m race you’d throw him in, but his burst made him a hall of famer. Britton Covey wouldn’t impress in a 100m dash, but dude was uncoverable. Gatlin Bair actually is great out of the blocks in track and will almost certainly put up amazing 40 times… but watch his highlights and he looks like a more of a straight line guy to me, like Watkins back in the day.

Which is why I’m so excited for Cody Hagen to suit up. Cody has legit track speed, but is one of those rare individuals who has the shimmy and burst that makes him special.

To the OP - where did you get your 100 to 40 time converter? Is that a known/accepted chart, or is it something you put together? I haven’t seen that before and found it interesting…
