I'm going to disagree about the long range
Especially as he sees it primarily as a car for getting to work. The LFP battery in the base Model 3 can be charged to 100% every night, whereas the LR you only should be charging to 80% other than extremely rare instances. Because of this, the mileage difference is negligible, as 80% of the LR battery gives roughly the same range as 100% of the LFP. While you could argue the slower maximum charging speed is a disadvantage, again, using it as a commuter car that is charged at home, you'll never see a difference.
