Rutgers is in a financial quagmire.
It is burdened by crippling debt totaling $225M.
Despite Big Ten distribution, student fees and direct institutional help ($5.8M), student fees ($12.8M), and direct/indirect said ftom State or government support ($5.4), it posted a revenue shortfall of $28.8M in 2021-22.
Last year, it’s annual debt load was $16M.
