Just finished The Killer Angels. Absolutely loved it. The last 1/2 of the book
was so gripping. Someone on here recommended it a while back.

I must admit that I almost gave up through the first 1/4 of the book before the action started. But I'm sure glad I stuck with it. It's been a LONG time since my U.S. history classes and I vaguely remembered the main figures and the plot at Gettysburg. This book was awesome and rekindled a love of history for our country.

And wow, I had forgotten just how bad the South had gotten slaughtered at Gettysburg. I don't know how much liberty the author takes, but I really feel for Longstreet at that battle. What a frustrating position to be in with Lee. And Longstreet was so demonized for virtually the rest of his life.

Also, I can only imagine the horrors of war that all those men had to witness. What courage to fight that war and what incredible courage for the rebels who charged up that hill knowing they would likely die. Insane.

Highly recommend for anyone who hasn't read it yet, though I am sure there are not many of you.
