Except for Haarms & Toolson none of those were all that enviable of pickups.
And Pope had an obvious in w Toolson.
Bit credit to Pope & the staff for getting more outa those guys (& others) than many figured — or that many were willing to risk on, anyways.
I am a believer that Pope & his staff will figure out the magic combo for selecting & delivering on Portal recruits, though. At BYU it's NOT an easy science by any means.

He was not the #1, 2, 3, or 4th option Pope made a run at with that schollie. Honestly, his floor looked very low to me.
