I do think the view of the falls from the Canadian side is better

But taking the maid of the mist is the best way to experience the falls. I personally wouldn't risk crossing the border without my passport.

I don’t believe so. They checked my passport at the border a couple years ago.

View of falls themselves is but rest is not worth it. Still see them well from US side. Done both ways.

The Canadians will let you in. The American agents will be a complete pain.

Ask the agents. If you have a Real ID driver’s license I think you will be fine.
